Alpha's 2nd year

It has been a very long time since I added a log and this is because I am now back in London. Mama and Dada have been very busy organising things around the house and I have been getting used to being back home.

Last week we went to a fireworks display in Primrose Hill. There were lots of people and the fireworks were very noisy, I didn't really enjoy it much, but afterwards we went to Gareth and Heidi's apartment to eat lots of yummy food. Once again, I was the centre of attention, dancing to the music and generally being very amusing. My parting jesture was to be sick all over my new fluffy pink coat, luckily Mama caught most of it on her jacket.

I slept well that night and the next day we were up early to take part in a car boot sale. On the way to it, there were lots of boxes packed into the car and when we came back there were not so many. Mama and Dada seemed very happy about this and in the afternoon we went to the South Bank to see an old friend who was visiting London from Paris. Unfortunately, my teeth were hurting and I didn't know what to do with myself (except cry and be very noisy).

Hopefully next week I am going to start going to a new playgroup and will meet some new friends. Mama has also been thinking about teaching me to swim which I am looking forward to, as I love water.

Haven't done much for the last two days because Mama and Dada have been packing up ready for the move back to Finchley on Friday. Have played lots of games and Mama bought me a new book which I insist on reading constantly. It has all the animals that I have seen over the past two months whilst we have been living in the country.

Didn't do much today, but had a lovely weekend. On Saturday, friends of Mama and Dada came to stay. We went to meet them for lunch and then went onto the Swanage Steam railway. It was great fun and Dada got his face covered in soot when he lent out of the window to take some movies. The day had started off quite cold and very foggy, but by lunchtime it was very hot and the sun shined all afternoon.

On Sunday we drove down to the coast and had lunch in a small village called Portesham. We were planning to go back to the Sub Tropical Gardens, but the weather was so bad that we just stopped off at Chesil beach for a short while before heading home. After Max and Estefania left to go back to London, Mama and Dada played with me but we all all ended up going to bed early.

Today I am feeling much much better. Mama put me to bed at 7.30 last night and Dada had to wake me up at 10am this morning. I woke up smiling and have been an angel since.

Today I am not going to playgroup because I am not feeling very well. I have got a cold, but this is not the problem. For the last two days I have had very bad nappy rash and IT REALLY HURTS! It is sore and little blisters have appeared, so it hurts when I wee, walk, sit down, anything I do makes it hurt.

I have not been sleeping at all well and Mama has had to take me into the spare room so we could sleep together cuddling through the night. I was in so much pain every time I wet my nappy, so Mama made sure that my nappies were kept dry and lots of cream applied. This morning I ran around the house with no nappy on which was strange yet liberating.

I don't look very photogenic today, what with my runny red nose and pale complexion so no photos I'm afraid.

Yesterday I went to playgroup in Corscombe again. For some reason, I was attracted to all the boys toys. Before I knew what was happening I was happily hammering away with the tool set, whilst all the other girls (and boys) sat on a patchwork sheet having a pretend picnic. Next stop was the box with all the cars, tractors and trucks. This was great fun and I made lots of noise with all the necessary sound effects. The time passed so fast that before long we were back home playing in my room.

After a nice long nap, whilst Dada mowed the lawns, Mama and Dada decided to drive to Lulworth Cove. It was such a nice day that it seemed a shame to stay at home. It was very different from the last time we went, this time there were very few people and only only shop open for ice creams. We walked along the cliff top and I sat with Mama whilst Dada climbed down to take photos of Stair Hole [ picture ]. Before we left we spent some time sitting on the grass, but it was very windy [ picture ] so we soon decided to go home. Stopped for fish and chips on the way home, but Mama wouldn't let me have any!

Today we didn't do much. Dada finished mowing the lawns and Mama played with me. Later in the afternoon we went to Yeovil to buy a harness. Mama is worried that I will run off now that I can walk properly. Ten pounds later and I now have a super set of reins, yet to be used outside the house.

We started the day with breakfast and then playtime [ picture ]. Maddie had lots of fun with the balls from my play tent [ picture ] and I enjoyed [ picture ] posing for the cameras. After breakfast we went for a walk up the hill, passing the well which supplies our home with water [ picture ]. As we reached the vantage point at the top of the hill it was very windy [ picture ]. We then walked through the woods and found lots of puddles [ picture ].

We have to abort the walk due to heavy rain and the fact that Maddie and I were feeling quite tired. We went home for bottles of milk and then out again for lunch at Athelhampton House. The rain stopped us from walking around the gardens, so we headed home and continued playing in my nursery [ picture ]. All the cameras were out again, so we posed for more pictures [ picture ] and before my new friends left, we went to watch the cows coming up the lane for milking [ picture ].

Saturday 6 Oct
Today our friends arrived, Andy, Julia and Maddie - who is eight months older than me. We started the weekend off by having lunch at a lovely pub a short distance away in Sydling St Nicholas. Maddie and I had great fun running around the pub and afterwards we headed to Tyneham Village, which is down near Lulworth Cove. It is the remains of village that was taken over by the military for D-Day preparations. The families were evacuated and never allowed to return. All that remains now are the shells of the homes [ picture ], a telephone box and recently renovated church and school house, which now holds and exhibition. I walked around one house which now had a carpet of autumn leaves [ picture ]. I spent quite a bit of time trying to chase after Maddie [ picture ] but was never able to catch up!
