The Life and times of Alpha Perry

Friday, June 22, 2007

We've been really remiss in keeping this up to date. Alpha has, obviously, changed a huge amount since the last post. By way of a brief summary ...

Her swimming has come on leaps and bounds (can you do that underwater?). She's graduated from the class at Ryde (much to Sal's joy at not having to drive that far every Monday) and now swims in the more senior group at Sandown.

She's learned to ride a bike. I've been taking her down to the green just down Kings Bay Drive. After her initial resistance to leave the stabilisers, she's progressed well to riding alone. Just got the tricky task of mastering corners now.

She's done her Sats at school, which, if they follow her practice ones, should be good results.

Her handwriting is frankly great - really puts me to shame. It's beautifully shaped.

There mus be more, but I can't recall currently.

Transcript between Mama and Papa

[10:33:19] sallyperry says: Alpha asked me what a geek was this morning ... I used the example of computer geeks and she said "grandma doesn't even know how to use a computer" - as if it was something unthinkable!

[10:35:08] sallyperry says: Interesting to see what she assumes everyone shoud know how to do.

[10:35:35] Simon Perry says: that's ma girl!

[10:35:49] sallyperry says: she was on laptop this morning looking at dinosaurisle website - having remembered the url after seeing it on a bag - then whilst i was in shower she opened a new window and went on to cbeebies

[10:35:56] sallyperry says: all by herself - she was very proud

And rightly so.

Alpha returned home Friday after spending a week on or off with Grandma Books. She was a delight on Friday evening, staying up late to catch up on what we'd both been up to - lovely time.

Today (Saturday) has been an equal delight with the over-riding feeling being that she really wanted to spend time with us - almost as if she'd missed us (surely a first).

Feels like a big transition.

About six months ago Alpha said that she wanted to start a blog for the children living and visiting the Isle of Wight, so they'd get to all of the things that are available.

This morning, she asked if, when we finish all of the changes that are going on with Digital-Lifestyles, we could work on her children's blog.

Yesterday I went on a big journey. We left the Isle of Wight and we drove (and we drove, and we drove) and finally we got to Grandma and Grandads. When we got there we had a super Sunday dinner and Apple pie. I tried custard for the first time and it was scrumptious.

Archery Alpha - Garlic Festival 2006

Today we went to the Garlic Festival. I had a go at the archery and on the bouncy, scary giant slide.

Alpha in a huge cannon - The Watermill

We dropped over to The Watermill, Calbourne (last working one on the Isle of Wight) briefly on Sunday. After a little persuasion Alpha got into the huge cannon there.
