Today we went to the beach at a small village called Beer. It was such a lovely day and Mama and Dada felt we should make the most of the last rays of summer. Unfortunately, I got just as messy as usual during lunch [ picture ], but because we were outside it didn't matter too much.

It was fantastic at the beach, I love the big pebbles and Dada took me down to the sea to watch the waves roll in. Unfortunately, we got too close to the sea and I got soaked by a big wave. The bad news was that Mama hadn't brought a change of clothes for me, so I spent the rest of the time wearing just my cardigan and nappy! I didn't mind though, and showed off my new walking skills [ picture ]. Despite wanting to get out the pram as soon as possible, I spent a lot of time trying to get back in [ picture ]. I love climbing up anything available and might become an explorer when I grow up!

Today I went to playgroup in Corscombe. There were only three other toddlers, but we had great fun. I met Rosie again [ picture ] and watched as she rode the rocking horse. I also tried to get into the brick castle as many times as I could [ picture ]. I decided that walking is much easier than I had previously thought and managed many more steps than before. All in all I had a lovely time and will be going twice a week from now on.

A purposefully slow day today, where at breakfast I started to feed myself with my own cutlery. As you can see [ picture ] it was a messy start [ picture ]. I also played one of my new games [ picture ] which involves squeezing behind various pieces of furniture and then (optionally) playing peek-a-boo. Towards the end of the day we headed off for Sherborne again and got some great bargains at the charity shops. It was pretty wet, so we headed home sharpish.

This morning there was a huge fog all around the house. It took a very long time to lift and looked very spooky [ picture ]. Mama and Dada decided to take me to Weymouth to look around the charity shops. Whilst we sat by the harbour eating fish and chips, Dada noticed a lovely building [ picture ] [ picture ]. It was very peaceful in certain parts of the harbour and the sea looked lovely in the sun [ picture ]. Mama and I sat watching the world go by whilst Dada took lots of pictures [ picture ]. Once we had finished in Weymouth we drove down to Portland. The views from the top of the island were great [ picture ]. Later we drove onto Portland Bill where there are three lighthouses [ picture ].

Now we are back in Melbury Bubb, I have been sleeping through the night, letting Mama and Dada get some sleep themselves. Yesterday we went to the town of Sherborne. It was very quaint. Dada took some photos of the cathedral ceiling [ picture ] and me [ picture ]. We are just about to head off to Weymouth to scout around the charity shops.

Sadly, we weren't able to update in Amsterdam, so the following is a bulk entry

22.09.2001
Today we packed up again and headed back to Melbury Bubb. It is lovely to be back in this peaceful environment and I can't wait until the morning, when I get to see the cows again.

21.09.2001
Today was our last day in Amsterdam, it was a bit of a rush getting ready. Dada had to dash off to pick up the necklace and Mama had to rush to a shop to pick up a t-shirt she had ordered for me which has my name written in gold! Then it was off to Schipol airport in a taxi to catch our flight. We were running late, but luckily so were Easyjet! Finally arrived back at Luton airport and within a couple of hours were back home in Finchley manically chasing Beta (our cat) around the flat.

20.09.2001
More rain today, so we remained in the apartment in the morning, I had a lot of energy and spent time rushing around [picture]. Later in the day we visited more galleries, as well as a very interesting contemporary jewellery maker. Dada showed huge generosity when he bought Mama a lovely silver necklace.

19.09.2001
Today it rained again, so Dada spent quite a lot of time sliding me up and down the wooden floor [picture]. It was excellent fun and I couldn't get enough of it [picture]. Later in the day we to a number of galleries to look at contemporary art. I wasn't really sure what the attraction was, but Mama and Dada seemed interested.

18.09.2001
Today is Dada's last day at the conference and we are looking forward to spending time with him tomorrow. In the meantime, I have been helping Mama select a good CD to play whilst we have our breakfast [picture]. Later in the day Mama and I took a long walk to the Botanical Gardens. We saw lots of butterflies in one of the greenhouses, which made me laugh and scream with joy. Whilst we sat outside the Orangery taking some tea, a group of sparrows flew down and stole the biscuit on the side of Mama's saucer!

17.09.2001
Last night I was not feeling at all well and kept Mama awake all night (sorry!). This, along with the persistent rain, meant we stayed in all day, but it didn't stop my curiosity of looking around for fragile items [picture]. My favourite piece of furniture is definitely the Corbusier chaise lounge, [picture] and I have decided to get my analysis in early in order to avoid any future problems!

16.09.2001
Dada was off to the conference again today (it was his big day and we were all rooting for him), but it rained for most of the day. Eventually, after begging and pleading [picture], Mama took me out for a walk to look for flea markets, but we weren't successful. We did however find a street festival in the Jordaan area. The music was pretty loud, so we didn't stay long.

15.09.2001
Today Dada went to the conference at the RAI Centre, not far from the centre of Amsterdam, so Mama took me for a walk around town. As well as taking in the sunshine and general vibrancy of Amsterdam, we were enticed into the shops and I got some news clothes. Everyone in Amsterdam seems so trendy, so I have to keep up with the 'van der bergs'. As I have German Measles at the moment I have not been too hungry, but Dada's laptop case somehow seems to appeal. [picture]

14.09.2001
Today I met the little boy from upstairs, Gabriel. He has very kindly lent me his tricycle [picture]. Unfortunately, as I still can't walk properly, I have been a little scared to ride it. Instead I have been enjoying pushing it around.
